More About Carol

Carol fell in love with hand applique when she signed up for an applique class in 1980 to make her first quilt.  She had just “retired” from the elementary music classroom.  Being an educator at heart, she began teaching basic quilting workshops as well as quilted clothing workshops in 1983.  She has shared her expertise of quilting techniques with students while encouraging their creativity for 40 years.

In 2016, Carol and her husband Lee retired to Carol’s hometown of Greenville, SC where Carol continues to teach, specializing in applique.

Carol enjoys working with original designs and variations in traditional patterns. She has had both quilts and quilted clothing juried into national and international shows, including the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show in Hampton, VA, and the IQA International Quilt Expo in Innsbruck, Austria. Her architectural landscapes have been exhibited at the Tactile Architectural Show in Washington, DC, and at the Houston International Quilt Show.  Carol won The Best Workmanship in Wall Hangings at Virtual #1 Online Quilt Festival presented by Mancuso Show Management in August 2021.

Carol and Lee have two adult children:  Sarah is a cellist/singer-songwriter living in Nashville, TN.  Zach is a wilderness photographer living in Alaska. These two inspire many of Carol’s creations.
