Day 7-Cellos In the Red   2019 Greenville SC

I learned the technique of Hawaiian Quilting in a class taught by Nancy Lee Chong at the Academy of Applique in Williamsburg, VA.  This quilt is a product of that class.  My daughter, Sarah, a professional cellist, was the inspiration for the quilt.  It was sewn in the traditional manner using a two color palette (100% cotton white tone-on-tone fabric and a red batik) as well as quilting it in a 1/4” outline quilting pattern.  It is hand appliqued and hand quilted.

This 40x40 wallhanging was awarded the Best Hand Workmanship-Wall in the VISUALS #1 Quilt Competition at the Online Quilt Festival-August 2020.
